RIP. ROC DUKATI

More on this soon, but for now I'd like to extend condolences to the friends and family of Roc Dukati, who I'm told was gunned down last night outside of the Caprice Restaurant downtown, where a release party for Cambridge rapper Millyz ended in a fight that spilled onto Tremont Street. I've done a few articles on Roc and his LIFE4LIFE fam (Smoke Bulga, Masspike Miles) over the years, and have nothing but respect for their lasting hustle in the music game.
This tragedy comes less than two weeks after the murder of Johnny Hatch, who was best known in hip-hop for his work with Ripshop and Big Oh in Mikst Nutz. Much love to that whole crew as well, along with Johnny's people and relatives. No doubt we'll be paying proper respect as both parties are laid to rest, but in the meantime I think everybody in the New England rap scene needs to sit back, slow down, and take a good look around. This shit is out of control.
